Operational Information
This article addresses questions about the inclusion of operational information.
Can the system interface with other Operational systems already deployed by a particular Fire Service? Yes, the careful design and compliance with interoperability standards that underpin the implementation of FARYNOR™ make interfacing with other legacy systems straightforward. Clearly these interfaces have to be defined on a case by case basis where specific, possibly bespoke, systems have been implemented, but where a clear definition of the interface can be specified the transfer and sharing of information is easy to perform. It is worth emphasising that the specification raised by London Fire & Emergency Planning Authority required that FARYNOR™ be designed to allow for easy integration with other systems. The analogy of the jigsaw puzzle, made famous by Microsoft®, is very apt when describing FARYNOR™. The ability to plug in data from other systems and share information is a key design principle.
Can the system link to other information held within the Fire Service? Yes, this can be done using the in-built electronic document management system so that existing documents can be opened directly from FARYNOR™. In addition, FARYNOR™ has the ability to hold “Abstracts” which are any form of electronic medium which hold relevant information, for example, a web link to mapping or GIS systems to show the geographical location of a property.
Can the system record false alarms from AFAs? London Fire & Emergency Planning Authority are working to confirm a new policy within this area and intend to see this implemented within FARYNOR™. This will be made available to all the Brigades of England and Wales as soon as it is completed.
Given that Advantage System Solutions deliver LOCARD® to the Police Service, can information from FARYNOR™ be integrated where a fire ground becomes a crime scene? Yes this can be done if required. (Further information on LOCARD® can be found in the About Us section of the web site).
