Case Study ...
Farynor™
Advantage has been a trusted supplier to the London Fire & Emergency Planning Authority since 2002 and we have conducted a wide range of work since that date. One recent mission critical project, which was successfully delivered in early 2005, was the Fire Safety System known as Farynor™.
The new system enables LFEPA to better control the process and management of Fire Safety across London by introducing centralisation of information and standardisation of process. This will also improve the ability of LFEPA to deliver against the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and the requirements of e-GIF.
The system records risk related information enabling it to be used in the various Fire Safety activities including community and statutory requirements. A number of external systems are linked to the new system to ensure that a rich capability to manage mapping and CAD facilities is enabled. It has been designed in such a way as to make long term changes simple to apply to manage new requirements that arise from changes to Fire Safety legislation.
The system is developed to an N-tier architecture model using Object Oriented design principals. This ensures that the data logic, business logic and cosmetic presentation are held in separate tiers, thus enabling any layer to be changed without impacting the others providing that the interfaces remain unaltered. Web interfaces are used for presentation to the user wherever possible.
